North Central Montana AHEC
The North Central Montana Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is a HRSA grant funded program, serving eleven counties in the north central region of Montana. There are four AHEC regions in the state, with the main office for the north central region being located in Great Falls. In affiliation with Montana Hospital Association, the mission is "to improve the supply and distribution of health care professionals, with an emphasis on primary care, through community / academic / educational partnerships, to increase access to quality health care."
The overall purpose of the regional centers is to connect health professions education to rural and underserved communities. Programs developed at every center will focus on three major objectives and activities:
- Encourage youth from underserved areas/populations to pursue health careers
- Encourage health professionals to select employment in rural/underserved areas
- Provide CE/CME to health professionals employed in rural/underserved areas
